P-value

The probability, under the null hypothesis, of obtaining a test statistic at least as extreme as the one observed. A small p-value indicates the data are inconsistent with H₀. It is compared to a pre-specified significance level α; if p ≤ α, H₀ is rejected. The p-value does not equal the probability that H₀ is true.
