Nonparametric statistics

Statistical methods that do not require strong assumptions about the functional form of the population distribution. These methods rely on ranks, signs, or permutations rather than distributional parameters. Examples include the Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Spearman correlation. Preferred for small samples or ordinal data.
