Dokumentsamling är en systematisk datainsamlingsteknik där forskaren samlar in och granskar befintliga skriftliga, visuella eller digitala register — såsom rapporter, protokoll, policyer, brev, fotografier eller institutionella register — som primär eller kompletterande bevisning. Den används flitigt inom kvalitativ, historisk och mixed-methods-forskning och kan användas ensam eller som komplement till intervjuer och observationer.
