Sekventiell fallfokuserad mixed methods-design kombinerar djupet hos fallstudiemetodik med den stegvisa datainsamlingslogiken hos sekventiella mixed methods. Kvantitativa och kvalitativa data samlas in i distinkta, ordnade faser — antingen KVAN följt av KVAL eller KVAL följt av KVAN — och båda strängarna förankras inom ett eller flera avgränsade fall. Designen lämpar sig för forskningsfrågor som kräver förståelse för hur och varför fenomen utvecklas inom specifika verkliga kontexter.
