Bayesiansk skalutveckling tillämpar Bayesiansk statistisk inferens för konstruktion och utvärdering av psykometriska skalor. Istället för att förlita sig på enskilda punktuppskattningar av item- och personparametrar, producerar den fullständiga posteriorfördelningar som kvantifierar osäkerhet, införlivar förkunskaper och stöder principfasta beslut om item-urval, reliabilitet och validitet i små eller komplexa urval.
