SammanfattningFlotation kinetics is the study of how recovery of minerals from ore changes over time during flotation. The Garcia-Zuniga model, introduced in 1935, describes recovery as a first-order kinetic process with rate constant k and maximum recoverable fraction R∞. This simple model underpins flotation cell design and process optimization, enabling engineers to predict flotation performance from batch tests and scale results to industrial circuits. The McCabe-Thiele Method, introduced by Warren L. McCabe and Ernest W. Thiele in 1925, is a graphical technique for designing and analyzing distillation columns. It predicts the number of theoretical plates (stages) needed to achieve a desired separation between light and heavy components. While primarily a chemical engineering tool, it applies to liquid-vapor separation problems in mining operations such as mercury recovery and rare earth element refining.
