Modelimi i përzierjeve Bayesiane paraqet popullatën si një shumë e peshuar prej K shpërndarjesh komponentësh dhe vlerëson të gjitha të panjohurat — peshat përzierëse, parametrat e komponentëve, madje edhe numrin e komponentëve — përmes inferencës pasuese. Ai shtrin analizën klasike të përzierjeve duke vendosur paraprakë (priors) mbi çdo parametër dhe duke kuantifikuar pasigurinë mbi përcaktimet latente të grupeve, në vend që t'i trajtojë ato si fikse.
