Keyes in 2002, the MHC-SF operationalizes the conceptualization of mental health as a continuum from languishing to flourishing, distinct from absence of mental illness. The scale captures life satisfaction, positive emotions, autonomy, personal growth, purpose, and social integration. The MHC-SF is widely used in population health research, clinical practice, and recovery-oriented mental health services.
