Quantitative data are collected in one or more supporting phases to supplement, refine, or validate the dominant qualitative strands. The design is common in longitudinal program evaluations, theory-building projects, and community-based participatory research where deep contextual understanding is the primary aim. | The multiphase mixed methods design is a sustained research program in which quantitative and qualitative strands are combined across three or more sequential phases — or across multiple related projects — to address a central program objective.
