Metode Dendrokronologi

Dendrokronologi ialah sains untuk menentukan tarikh dan menganalisis gelang pertumbuhan pokok bagi membina semula keadaan iklim lampau, kronologi, dan corak pertumbuhan pokok. Dipelopori oleh Andrew Ellicott Douglass pada awal abad kedua puluh dan diformalkan oleh Fritts dan rakan-rakannya, dendrokronologi membolehkan penentuan tarikh sampel kayu bersejarah yang tepat dan menjana rekod iklim sepanjang alaf, menjadi amat perlu untuk paleoklimatologi, arkeologi, dan ekologi hutan.
