Daripada mencari satu titik optimum dalam keadaan deterministik, ia mengenal pasti tetapan faktor yang mencapai matlamat prestasi sambil memastikan kebarangkalian kegagalan atau hasil yang tidak boleh diterima di bawah ambang yang ditetapkan — menjadikannya amat berharga dalam konteks kejuruteraan kritikal keselamatan dan variabiliti tinggi.
