Dengan menggantikan ukuran jarak konvensional dengan alternatif yang teguh — seperti skor komposit, statistik terpotong, atau kemungkinan sintetik — ia melindungi inferens posterior daripada herotan oleh pemerhatian yang tidak tipikal atau simulator yang tidak sempurna.
