Desain metode campuran transformatif sekuensial menggabungkan struktur temporal metode campuran sekuensial — pengumpulan data kualitatif dan kuantitatif dalam dua fase terpisah yang berurutan — dengan kerangka teoretis transformatif yang berpusat pada keadilan sosial, kesetaraan, dan perspektif komunitas terpinggirkan. Fase kualitatif atau kuantitatif dapat didahulukan; urutan ditentukan oleh apa yang dituntut oleh pertanyaan penelitian transformatif.
