By combining the temporal depth of diary records with the rapport and clarity of direct researcher interaction, it reduces ambiguity in diary instructions, improves compliance, and allows the researcher to probe or clarify entries at handover or follow-up meetings. | Participant observation is a qualitative research method in which the researcher embeds themselves within a community, organization, or social setting for an extended period, engaging in the activities and relationships of the group while systematically observing and documenting behavior, interactions, and cultural meaning.
