Neither strand is subordinate; both contribute with the same priority to the final interpretation of the case. Data are collected and analyzed separately, then integrated at the interpretation stage to produce a richer, more complete understanding of the case than either approach could yield alone. | An embedded case study is a case study design in which one or more units of analysis are nested within a single overarching case.
