Remote Sensing Image Classification
חשבו על כל פיקסל בתמונה כעל צרור ערכי בהירות שנרשמו בפסי תדר (band) מרובים. סיווג הוא התהליך של קביעה לאיזו קטגוריה — יער, כביש, אגם, בניין — כל פיקסל שייך ככל הנראה, בהתבסס על ערכים אלו. מסווג מונחה (supervised) לומד מדוגמאות פיקסלים מתויגות (נתוני אימון) כדי למתוח גבולות במרחב הספקטרלי; מסווג בלתי מונחה (unsupervised) מקבץ פיקסלים לפי דמיון סטטיסטי ללא תוויות קודמות. המפה התמטית המתקבלת מתרגמת נתוני לוויין גולמיים למידע שמיש אודות פני השטח של כדור הארץ.
