תכנון מעורב כמותי-עדיפות סדרתי אוסף ומנתח נתונים כמותיים תחילה, ואז ממשיך עם נדבך איכותני להרחבה, הסבר או הקשר של הממצאים הכמותיים. לרכיב הכמותי מיוחס משקל רב יותר במחקר הכולל, כלומר שאלות המחקר העיקריות והמסקנות מבוססות בעיקר על הראיות הכמותיות, כאשר הנדבך האיכותני ממלא תפקיד משלים ומסביר.
