חיזוי עומסים (Load forecasting) חוזה את הביקוש העתידי לחשמל במערכות חשמל בפרקי זמן שונים: מדקות עד שעות (טווח קצר), ימים עד שבועות (טווח בינוני), וחודשים עד שנים (טווח ארוך). חיזוי מדויק חיוני לשיגור כלכלי (economic dispatch), התחייבות יחידות ייצור (unit commitment) ואמינות המערכת. השיטות נעות בין רגרסיה סטטיסטית קלאסית לגישות למידת מכונה מודרניות.
