Diffie-Hellmanin avaintenvaihto
Whitfield Diffien ja Martin Hellmanin vuonna 1976 kehittämä Diffie-Hellmanin avaintenvaihto on perustavanlaatuinen protokolla jaetun salaisuuden luomiseksi turvattoman viestintäkanavan yli. Kaksi osapuolta, jotka eivät ole koskaan aiemmin kommunikoineet, voivat käyttää Diffie-Hellmania sopiakseen symmetrisestä salausavaimesta, jota salakuuntelija ei voi helposti johtaa, vaikka hän havaitsisi kaikki julkiset vaihdot.
