Yuen in 1974, it is a robust alternative to the classical t-test when the data are non-normal or contain outliers and the population variances are unequal. | The Mann-Whitney U test is the nonparametric alternative to the independent samples t-test, comparing two independent groups by ranking all observations together rather than relying on their means.
