Dendrokronoloogia meetod

Dendrokronoloogia on puude aastaringide dateerimise ja analüüsi teadus, et rekonstrueerida mineviku kliimatingimusi, kronoloogiaid ja puude kasvumustreid. Andrew Ellicott Douglase poolt 20. sajandi alguses algatatud ja Frittsi ning tema kolleegide poolt formaliseeritud dendrokronoloogia võimaldab täpselt dateerida ajaloolisi puiduproove ja genereerida aastatuhandete pikkuseid kliimaandmeid, muutudes paleoklimatoloogia, arheoloogia ja metsaökoloogia jaoks asendamatuks.
