Developed by Michael B. First and colleagues in the 1990s and updated to align with DSM-5, it remains the gold-standard diagnostic instrument in clinical research and clinical practice.The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) is a 21-item self-report instrument designed to measure the severity of depressive symptoms in adolescents and adults. Developed by Aaron T. Beck in 1961 and revised as the BDI-II in 1996, it has become one of the most widely used screening and monitoring tools in clinical psychology and psychiatry.
