KokkuvõteA field-based multiple case study is a qualitative research design in which the researcher conducts sustained, in-person investigation at two or more bounded real-world sites (the cases), gathering data through direct observation, interviews, and document analysis. By systematically comparing what is found across cases, the researcher can identify both shared patterns and meaningful differences, producing analytic conclusions that are more robust and transferable than a single-site study allows.Case study research is a qualitative research design that investigates a specific phenomenon, individual, group, organisation, or event in depth within its real-world context. Systematised by Robert K. Yin in 1984, it supports single-case and multiple-case designs and draws on multiple data sources — interviews, observation, documents, and artefacts — to build a rich, contextualised account of a bounded unit.
