KokkuvõteCentral Composite Design (CCD) is a second-order response surface design that allows researchers to efficiently fit a full quadratic model relating multiple continuous input factors to one or more response variables. Introduced by Box and Wilson in 1951, it combines a factorial (or fractional factorial) core, axial (star) points, and center-point replicates into a single unified design, making it the most widely used design for process optimization in engineering, chemistry, and manufacturing.Design of Experiments (DOE) is a systematic framework for planning, conducting, and analyzing controlled experiments to determine how multiple input factors simultaneously affect one or more responses. Introduced by Ronald A. Fisher in 1935, DOE allows researchers and engineers to identify causal relationships, quantify factor effects, and find optimal settings efficiently — using far fewer runs than one-factor-at-a-time approaches. It is foundational in engineering, manufacturing, agriculture, and applied sciences.
