Developed in the 1950s and refined continuously, electrofishing is the standard method for inventorying fish communities in streams and small rivers, providing unbiased population estimates and species composition data. | Microhabitat Preference Analysis is a quantitative ecological method used to determine which fine-scale environmental features — such as vegetation structure, substrate type, temperature, or cover — animals actively select beyond what is randomly available to them.
