Statistical power

The probability that a statistical test correctly rejects a false null hypothesis, expressed as 1 − β where β is the Type II error probability. Power increases with larger sample size, larger effect size, higher significance level, and lower variance. It is the central quantity in sample size determination to ensure a study is adequately sensitive to detect a true effect.
