Blattflächenindex
Der Blattflächenindex (LAI) ist eine dimensionslose Größe, die die gesamte einseitige Blattfläche pro Einheitsfläche des Bodens misst, der von einem Kronendach bedeckt ist. Er quantifiziert die Dichte und Struktur des Kronendachs: LAI = 0 für kahlen Boden, LAI = 1 für eine dünne Kultur, LAI = 3-6 für dichte Getreide- oder Grasbestände und LAI > 8 für dichte Wälder. Der LAI ist eine Schlüsselvariable in Wachstumsmodellen für Kulturpflanzen, bei der Schätzung der Evapotranspiration und in der Fernerkundung, da er die Lichtabsorption, die Photosynthese und den Wasserverlust von Vegetation direkt steuert.
