Analyse af bassinsubsidens

Analyse af bassinsubsidens er den kvantitative undersøgelse af, hvordan sedimentære bassiner uddybes over geologisk tid, drevet af tektonik, isostasi og belastning. Formaliseret af McKenzie (1978) og Sclater og Christie (1980) afslører denne metode de mekaniske årsager til bassinudvikling, forudsiger subsurface temperatur- og trykhistorier og begrænser petroleumgenerering. Analysen integrerer brøndstratigrafi, seismisk geometri, gravimetriske data og termiske modeller for at rekonstruere bassinets udvikling.
