বহুপদী পার্থক্যের আইটেম কার্যকারিতা (Polytomous DIF) পরীক্ষা বা জরিপের এমন একটি আইটেম সনাক্ত করে যাতে দুটি অর্ডিনাল প্রতিক্রিয়া বিভাগ (যেমন, লিকার্ট-টাইপ স্কেল, আংশিক-ক্রেডিট আইটেম) এর বেশি থাকে এবং যা বিভিন্ন গোষ্ঠীর মধ্যে ভিন্নভাবে কাজ করে, যেমন লিঙ্গ, জাতি বা ভাষার পটভূমি, পরিমাপ করা অন্তর্নিহিত বৈশিষ্ট্যকে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করার পরে। এটি ক্লাসিক্যাল বাইনারি DIF পদ্ধতিগুলিকে অর্ডিনাল প্রতিক্রিয়া বিন্যাসে প্রসারিত করে।
