Developed by Gearhardt, Corbin, and Brownell in 2009, it is based on diagnostic criteria for substance use disorder and adapted to assess dependence-like symptoms related to food consumption. The YFAS 2.0, released in 2016, improved psychometric properties and reduced item burden.
