الطريقة المقارنة
الطريقة المقارنة هي تقنية تأسيسية في اللغويات التاريخية لإعادة بناء اللغات الأم وتحديد العلاقات الجينية بين اللغات ذات الصلة. روّج لها السير ويليام جونز في عام 1786، وهي تقارن بشكل منهجي السمات الصوتية والصرفية والمعجمية عبر اللغات لتحديد توافقات الأصوات المنتظمة وتتبع أصولها المشتركة. تدعم هذه الطريقة اللغويات التاريخية الحديثة وكانت ضرورية لفهم عائلات اللغات في جميع أنحاء العالم.
