البحث عن الشكل الإنشائي هو طريقة حسابية لاكتشاف الأشكال الإنشائية التي تتسم بالكفاءة تحت أحمال وقيود معينة. بدأها هاينز شيك في عام 1974، وهي تعكس التصميم الإنشائي التقليدي: فبدلاً من فرض شكل محدد مسبقًا ثم تحليل ما إذا كان قويًا بما فيه الكفاية، يبدأ البحث عن الشكل بالأحمال وظروف الدعم ويستنتج الشكل الأمثل الذي يقلل من استخدام المواد مع تلبية متطلبات السلامة.
