Should icons always have text labels?
For critical functions (delete, save) and for new users, labels are essential. Once users familiarize themselves, icon-only interfaces work well. Best practice: show icon + label initially, then hide label in saved preferences. For mobile: tooltips on long-press.
Why do some universal icons still confuse users?
