When to use it

Repeat SSI-4 at 4–8 week intervals during stuttering therapy to monitor treatment response; improvement of ≥3 percentile points or shift from one severity category to a milder category indicates effective treatment. Use SSI-4 in research comparing stuttering treatment approaches (fluency shaping, acceptance and commitment therapy, pharmacological intervention) and to track natural recovery trajectories.
