Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool
The Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool (BJWAT), originally developed as the Pressure Sore Status Tool, is a comprehensive instrument for objectively assessing pressure ulcer characteristics and monitoring healing progress. Created by Barbara M. Bates-Jensen, the tool evaluates 13 distinct wound dimensions including size, depth, tissue type, and exudate. It provides quantitative assessment of wound severity and is useful for tracking changes over time and evaluating treatment effectiveness.
